Toyota Canada Announces Pricing for its 2021 GR Supra

Toyota Canada has announced pricing for its GR Supra model for 2021. These were eagerly awaited, as we've known for some time now that a 4-cylinder engine variant is joining the family for the new model year.

So, without further ado, let's go with the 4-cylinder version, which will see its asking price start at $56,390. That's $11,300 less than the 6-cylinder version, which will see its price rise to $67,690 for the new year. Up, yes, because we are talking about an increase of about $3,000 over the previous year. There's a reason for that; we're going to go back to that later on.

As for the new entry-level version, the GR Supra 2.0, its senses will be awakened by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that will deliver 255 horsepower and allow the model to do the 0-96 km/h in just 5 seconds. This feat is accomplished thanks to a weight reduction of some 200 pounds compared to the 6-cylinder version.

As for the family beast, the GR Supra 3.0, its mechanics will be improved for 2021. In concrete terms, its horsepower goes from 335 to 382, a feat achieved in part thanks to a major overhaul of certain components, including a new design for the pistons and the exhaust manifold so that the latter better manages the heat produced by the work of the components. All of this will allow the model to reach the 0-96-km/h limit in just 3.9 seconds. You may have guessed that this time was measured in miles per hour (60), which explains the conversion to 96 rather than 100 km/h.

The GR Supra 3.0 also benefits from chassis upgrades. The adaptive suspension and stability control system benefited from revisions to reduce body roll in corners and increase stability under these same circumstances.

Note that the GR Supra 3.0 can also be ordered with the A91 package ($1200), which adds 19-inch matte black wheels, carbon-fiber mirror caps, an integrated spoiler and a unique signature on the sides. This model comes with an interior that combines black and blue, and can receive two exterior colours that take the names Refraction and Nocturnal.

The 2021 GR Supra is currently on sale at Toyota dealers across the country.
