The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid vs. 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid continues to a top seller for Toyotain Canada. The reasons are simple. Every RAV4 Hybrid is designed to bring what Canadians and other hybrid owners want—efficiency, bold performance, and advanced technologies that continue to improve. Toyota offers four models 2020, including the LE AWD, XLE AWD, XSE AWD and Limited AWD.

Several other automakers compete with the RAV4 Hybrid in its segment. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV may be outdated, but it is still a good seller in the segment. Here, we compare both.

The 2020 RAV4 Hybrid delivers better performance

The RAV4 Hybrid is noticeably lighter than the Outlander PHEV. Including the Outlander’s more substantial length and height, this may create a boxier and less nimble feel when driving the Mitsubishi. The RAV4’s weight and power contribute to its 0-100 km/h acceleration of 8.1 seconds. This increases to a much slower 10.3 seconds in the Outlander.

The RAV4 Hybrid creates more horsepower than the Outlander PHEV. With a total horsepower of 219 that comes mostly from its 2.5-litre engine, it is among the quickest hybrids in its class. The Outlander’s net horsepower combines its gasoline engine and electric motors to reach just 190 net horsepower. Toyota’s proven Synergy Drive expertly delivers performance between the RAV4’s gasoline and electric motors.

The RAV4 takes the lead in towing capacity. With 793 Kg instead of the Outlander’s 680 Kg, the RAV4 Hybrid will take your trailer where you want it.

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid expands versatility and passenger comfort

The RAV4 Hybrid expands lifestyle options while offering more room for passengers. The RAV4 Hybrid has 1,977 litres of cargo volume behind the front seats with the rear seats down. The Outlander falls nearly 200 litres behind in this configuration.

Each RAV4 Hybrid opens 1,059 litres of capacity behind the rear seats, in their upright configuration. This is another increase of nearly 200 litres more than the Outlander PHEV. The RAV4 makes many facets of life easier, such as long road trips, moving to a new place, hauling important items from a shopping trip, and much more.

When comparing the seating accommodations in the RAV4 Hybrid and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, you will probably notice the RAV4’s clear advantages in key areas. These include: front leg room, front and rear shoulder room, and rear head room.
