Everything you want to know about the all-new 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross

The Toyota Corolla Cross is coming to Canada as a 2022 model after a long waiting period where there were a lot of rumors about the new small SUV, but nothing from Toyota. Well, now, Toyota has confirmed that the Corolla Cross in indeed coming here and will go on sale later this year.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross will slot beneath the RAV4 as Toyota’s new subcompact SUV. Based on the Toyota Corolla sedan, the Corolla Cross will come in multiple versions (L, LE, and XLE) and offer a range of advanced connectivity technologies that include an available 7-inch Multi-Information Display with a digital instrumentation layout as well as an 8-inch multimedia screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be included as well as Toyota’s advanced Safety Sense 2.0 suite of active safety technologies.

These include

  • Radar-based adaptive cruise control
  • Lane-departure warning with steering assist
  • Automatic braking
  • Automatic high beams

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross will also feature Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert starting on the LE trim, and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking on the top trim.

Impressive Fuel Economy for the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross

Under the hood, the new Corolla Cross will feature a 2.0-litre Dynamic Force engine taken from the top trims on the Corolla. With 169 horsepower and a Direct Shift CVT gearbox, this engine will offer plenty of power and performance while also offering impressive fuel economy. The Corolla Cross is rated at 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres in front-wheel drive models on average.

Better yet, the Toyota Corolla Cross will offer all-wheel drive as well to face those tough Ontario winters in complete confidence. The Corolla Cross AWD won’t compromise fuel economy either with an estimated fuel consumption average of just 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres. The all-wheel drive system manages to keep fuel consumption low because it has the ability to disengage the rear wheels when it is not needed. When a loss of traction is detected, however, up to 50% of the available torque can reach the rear wheels.

Lastly, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross will offer up to 1,500 pounds of towing capacity.
