2022 Toyota Tundra vs. 2022 Ram 1500: The Tundra Is Better Than Ever

The Toyota Tundra rolls into 2022 with a whole new design, chassis, suspension and, most of all, a pair of new engines that make it more powerful and efficient than many rivals in the segment. Inside, the Tundra has been completely redesigned with new features, new infotainment and commodities that make it really competitive in the segment.

Here, we compare the 2022 Tundra with the 2022 Ram 1500.

Turbocharged Hybrid power in the 2022 Toyota Tundra

The all-new Tundra gets two engines this year. The first one is a twin turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 with an output of 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The second one gets a boost thanks to an electric motor lodged between the engine and the transmission. This i-FORCE MAX is paired with a 288V nickel-metal battery. The result is rather impressive, with 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft, all of which is available at 2,400 rpm. An all-new 10-speed automatic is paired with both powertrains.

The Ram’s engines haven’t seen an update in a long time. The lineup has a V6, a V8 and diesel engines that are inefficient. And you won’t see any turbochargers or electrification, that is why owning a Ram will cost you more. Even if the Tundra’s engines are more efficient thanks to their displacement, the Tundra still gets a very competitive 12,000 lb towing capacity. There are also plenty of special packages available with the Tundra, like the TRD Pro variant which is available with Fox Racing shock absorbers.

New, innovative features on the 2022 Toyota Tundra.

Inside, the Toyota Tundra now offers a larger, more intuitive infotainment screen that surpasses what the Ram offers. It also has the available rear window that lowers completely between the cab and the bed, something the Ram 1500 doesn’t have. Toyota has always been at the forefront of the industry in terms of safety, and the Tundra features more tech and safety features than the Ram 1500.

Time and time again, Toyota trucks have proved to be more effective, more capable and much more reliable than their American rivals. This time, the Tundra adds more technology, performance and efficiency. Come and see us to learn everything there is to know about the new Tundra. You can also buy your car online with us.
